Experiential learning is more a life experience than just a course. We take teams to unusual, original places - away from the office environment. Open Learning is a methodology that creates an environment where people feel confident to give & receive feedback, communicate and criticise in an open and honest way. Open Learning is what we encourage and incorporate in all our courses and workshops. Top What is a 'usual' programme? There is no such thing as a 'usual' programme as all our courses are built around your organisation's specific needs and objectives. Typically, however, all attendees complete a confidential questionnaire prior to the course which highlights any communication issues and examines the team dynamics. All the subsequent courses are interactive learning experiences which result in the development of both personal and organisational action plans. They include theory lectures, psychometric analysis together with a combination of desktop and outdoor exercises which are specifically designed to foster positive interaction between attendees and improve understanding and communication within the team. Unusual experiences encourage people to talk. The outdoor exercises consolidate and reinforce the lessons learned within the classroom. uph courses should not be seen in isolation but rather as integral and complementary to your overall Human Resources strategy. Top What follow-up activities do you do? Firstly, we ask the Team Leader and all attendees for feedback - both good and bad, and we will present assessment reports if required. Importantly, however, our on-going coaching programme provides the necessary momentum to achieve real results and an enduring commitment to development and success. Top Have your methods been researched? uph has advanced traditional team building using methodologies taken from Crew Resources Management and human factor studies in aviation research and practice. This research concentrates on time-limited decision making and interpersonal behaviours under stress to ensure effective and correct response to emergency situations. Human fallibility is still the major cause of aviation accidents. The importance of the CRM concept has been recognised by airlines world-wide as fundamental to understanding and ensuring high performance crews. Top Can you assess personnel? uph are pleased to assess personnel, either in-house or as part of a course. We will offer written reports on any or all of the attendees but we will always make sure that they know that they're being assessed, so that there is no 'hidden agenda'. We are happy to produce a confidential report for the Team Leader only or, more usefully, we will discuss our conclusions with the team.
